Dear Participants and Presenters of ICCS 2017,

For those of you who are considering it but have not quite made up your mind, we have the following information to share:

On Saturday afternoon, September 2, 2017 (the second day of ICCS2017), the conference will have an excursion to the National Palace Museum (NPM), which is one of most famous museums in the world. The collection of the NPM mainly deals with art and artifacts of Chinese cultural heritage over an enduring history. Many of the works in the collection are masterpieces, leading the NPM to be widely recognized as a treasure trove of Chinese culture. After excursion, we will enjoy a Chinese-style banquet at Silks Palace, which is located adjacent to the NPM's Administrative Building to the west of the main exhibition hall.

There will be a free shuttle bus service to take you from the conference venue to the excursion and banquet sites. We will announce details about transportation during the conference.

Excursion (the visual feast)

The excursion to the NPM will start at 5:30 PM and end at 7:00PM. The NPM holds a permanent collection of ancient Chinese artifacts and artworks that encompass over 8,000 years of history of Chinese art from the Neolithic age to the modern. You will be amazed with Chinese antiques, invaluable statues and paintings, calligraphy, and a library of rare tomes and manuscripts.

According to official report, the holdings of the National Palace Museum included 57,147 antiquities, 6,003 paintings and calligraphies, and 545,835 rare books and documents. The museum provides Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, and German language guides and museum-related literature. For more information about National Palace Museum, please go to https://www.npm.gov.tw/en/.

Banquet (the real feast)

The conference banquet will be held at Silks Palace at NPM from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The exterior of Silks Palace is a visually penetrable glass veil that not only pays respect to the venue's lush green surroundings but also diminishes the impact that a new structure would have on its neighboring buildings. At night, it comes to life with distinctive interior lighting that extends the open-space motif from the dining areas all the way out, exhibiting the joie de vivre under the nocturnal sky. The Silks Palace provides a tradition-oriented service, with dishes and tableware closely matching NPM artifacts. Its unique Chinese cuisine and atmosphere combine to offer a wonderful dining experience.
